I love books and I can't say it better than this quote! ~Anyone who says they have only one life to live must not know how to read a book.~ Anonymous

Biography

My two books are: The Great Snowball Escapade, a chapter book for 6 to 8 year olds and the picture book, JANOOSE THE GOOSE. I love writing but didn't come to it until a friend as me to write a story with her. I loved it. We finished that manuscript together and I went on to writing classes. That was about twenty-five years ago. I've had a few short stories published in a Chapbook and a literary magazine. I've had an agent and editors interested in my stories but no published books. Today, fortunately, it is becoming easier to writer to make it happen for themselves.

Inspiration

Growing up I watched my father write and type his manuscripts on our diningroom table. Watching him, I saw that he was engrossed in what he was doing. Though it looked like hard work because he frowned, murmured and used his pencil eraser alot. But he laughed and smiled, I think, much more and I realized he was enjoying himself much like when I reading a book I enjoy. In the 6th grade I wrote my first story. I can't remember much about it only that it was a rainy afternoon and fun. In high school I read 'To Kill a Mockingbird' a book I love. I remember thinking how I wished Tom Robinson, an innocent man, had not died and if I wrote a story like that it would end happily for my characters. Of course, along the way of learning the craft of writing it would be my characters who in their magical way lead me to how their stories should end. Visit my site at: www.thebookgarden.net
