Biography

I'm a Texas girl, born and bred. I have a bachelor's degree in Technical Theater, and another in Asian Studies. Learning is one of my favorite hobbies. :) I am the eldest of four sisters, and that was a learning experience in itself! Everything has meshed together to result in four novels, a collection of science fiction/light horror/fantasy short stories, three poetry collections, and two humorous horror chapbooks (one in print, the other on the way soon) plus assorted other items. Proud to bear the title The Bardabee Poet -- that's Rie.

Inspiration

My writing has been influenced by a wide range of experiences and other authors. Most memorable in the mix are Andre Norton, JRR Tolkien, Lynn Flewelling, Ray Bradbury, and C J Cherryh. I've also been influenced a great deal by B Movie horror -- Dracula Rising was one of my favorite movies growing up, and Vincent Price one of my favorite actors. Bruce Campbell rules! My favorite movie as an adult is The Crow. Music influences are wide and eclectic. Love show tunes, Celtic bands (favorite is The Brobdingnagian Bards), Pink Floyd, Metallica, Chinese pop (though I am a little outdated since I graduated in 1997 with my Asian Studies degree and don't have as much access lately.) Classical and New Age are also favorites. I find inspiration anywhere and everywhere. :)
