You're alone at 15 in the Indian Nation. It's the mid-1800's and you just buried your Paw. Left with nothing but your guns, a horse, and your dog Rip, you manage, until you have to fight to live.
It's the mid-1800's along the Kiamichi River in the Indian Nation. Your mother died giving you life, and, at the age of 15, you must search for, find, and bury your father after his horse came home alone. With nothing but a horse, your dog Rip, and a "wind blown, leaky, tumble down cabin" you survive the first winter and finally set out to learn more about the area. You want to see other faces, "even if they're ugly". You soon run into real trouble and are saved in a surprising way. You then wind up in a Choctaw camp, fall in love with the grandaughter of the old Indian who found you, shot and bleeding, in the mountains. Embedded with the teachings of your Paw, you seek to learn more, and find yourself fighting to survive before finally settling the score.
