Biography
Retired from the US Navy, I now have time to follow my dream. Writing for the enjoyment or enlightenment of others is a passion, and I enjoy it immensely. My Navy career took me to 21 countries on six continents. That experience gave me a deep appreciation of, and love for, my country. I made many friends in some of the places we visited, and grew to admire and respect them for managing so well in often poor situations, but my faith in America was only made stronger. I grew up in Northeast Texas, and that's where I live now with my lovely wife, Georgia, and our spoiled canine, Lexie. I can be contacted at www.rogerhaley.com or on facebook. Both books are being published, and Money Smart Moves is available, but are not yet on the shelves. Kiamichi Trail will be available Jan 2010.
Inspiration
Since the age of six, when my father taught me to read the newspaper, I have devoured books. I grew up with the works of Jack London, Louis Lamour, and Mark Twain. They were storytellers, and that's what I aspired to be. Robinson Crusoe, Huckleberry Finn, and others, entertained me for hours on end. Starting with writing for newsletters, I soon graduated to magazines. My letters to the editor morphed into a regular column due to reader response, and I decided to try a book. My book, Kiamichi Trail was begun over six years ago when I just could not get Jonathon and Rip (his dog) out of my head. It's often been a rocky road, but worth the ride.
