Description

The kingdom of Branchwater has lived in peaceful seclusion for most of its short history. The humans live alongside the mantliks (their guardians) in peace, enjoying a tranquil lifestyle until one morning when the kingdom wakes up to find an army encamped to the south of the castle town. What follows is the story of friends, and how they come together to survive. Facing an onslaught like none of them have ever imagined, the two races stand side by side upon the walls of Branchwater’s castle town, bracing themselves for the future. As the siege towers roll forward, and the soldiers lift their shields to meet the arrows, the children hide and cower in their houses. One of them, a young mantlik named Desirae, finds refuge in the castle, as her aunt mediates between the two races. Left alone to wander the halls, Desirae finds her way to the basement, and what she stumbles on below the castle could mean either salvation for them all, or the end of Branchwater.
