I'm a heathen and a writer. I don't like raisins.

Biography
Wendy Halley is a licensed mental health counselor and modern shaman. She received a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in California and a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies (Creative Writing, Psychology and Media Arts) from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Driven by a desire to explore healing possibilities beyond the scope of contemporary practices, Wendy became involved in the study and practice of shamanic healing. For the last six years those studies have focused on the study of Hawaiian mysticism and healing methods. Wendy is the author of Slaying the Mouse: A true story of healing in the spiritual realms, The Magical Path: Conscious Dreaming Exercises for Healing & Growth, and the children’s book Inside Out (Illumination Arts, Inc.). Wendy lives a quiet life in Vermont with her husband John and her dog family: gentle giants Sammie and Moose (English Mastiffs), and wayward punk Maynard (miniature wiener dog).
Inspiration
I write a lot about alternative spirituality and my shamanic experiences. The end products tend to fall outside the boundaries of mainstream writing. I blame my sense of humor. There seems to be an unwritten rule that ethereal topics shouldn't make you crack a smile or laugh. I guess I'm a rule breaker. - - Writing has been a strange practice for me. Unlike most writers who seem to have a sense of discipline when approaching their craft, I only write when an idea drops out of the sky and into my melon of a head. It's pretty random. But when the idea comes it's all consuming. It builds up steam and an inner tension that can only be relieved by putting pen to paper (or fingers to the keyboard.) All the ideas that come to me seem to have one thing in common - a wish to steer readers inward so that they can remember how powerful they are.
