Biography
Had started off as a bank officer although I had ambitions of joining the Indian Army. At school my teachers thought I could be a great writer. But I was convinced that writing=lifetime penury. There was no way I was going to live & die a pauper. So, fate decided to take matters in hand. I lost my job when I became physically challenged. No pension, no retirement benefits & no social security. So, there I was bedridden, twiddling my thumbs and staring at the ceiling day in day out (nights included). One day I saw my mother die right in front of me and I could not move to even hold her as she convulsed with brain haemorrhage. After that something happened. I became a convulsive writer. And am writing ever since then - the date? 22 February 1992.
Inspiration
My parents, sisters and niece encouraged me to write. But I was angry. angry with my fate & God. Angry with the system that was cruel to the handicapped. Angry with those who deserted me when I needed them most. I turned this anger into creative energy by reciting the "I'll Show You, I'm NOT FINISHED!" incantation every day. Today, I am earning enough to support myself with dignity.
