Biography

MJ lives in Maryland with her teenage daughter and pet cat,Millie. She is a published Author/Illustrator.Her specialty is writing inspiring books for children that will help empower and teach them life lessons. She just completed the final changes on her first non-fiction adult novel entitled, Borrowed Time. MJ won numerous awards throughout her high school years including DECA Student of the year. She received her certificate in commercial art from The Professional Institute of Commerical Art. She was chosen Illustrator of the month at www.talauthors.com on 3 seperate occasions for book covers she designed. MJ has won numerous writing competitions as well. Two of her winning essays are displayed on www.childrencomefirst.com She has also won several Editor Choice awards for poems she has written and she was also nominated for Poet of the year in 2008 by Poetry.com

Inspiration

I have always enjoyed reading books to my daughter,nieces and nephew when they were little. I am inspired by wonderful childrens authors like Marc Brown,Robert Munsch,Elizabeth Kann,Victoria Kann, Tommy Di Pola,and many others. My true inspiration in the creation of my own books has got to be my own daughter and life. I have watched my daughter and her friends interact over the years and I have developed stories from their shenanigans. Life always has "something" that inspires me.
