Biography

For Catherine Donaldson, writing is not a job but a passion. The twenty-five year old resident of Baltimore, Maryland graduated from Western Maryland College with a degree in Communication. Despite studying TV and film, she eventually gravitated to the written word. As the daughter of a reporter, it was probably inevitable. The Captains Marshall: A Promise of Freedom was Catherine’s first published novel, and was followed up with Radiance and Shadows. Catherine is currently working on the next and final installment of The Captains Marshall trilogy.

Inspiration

My father always said, "you can't live in the past." But then he was the one who drilled our family history into our heads and schooled us on historic events that shaped the lives we have today. He's a complicated character, my dad. In the end though, he made me love history. That, combined with a childhood spent on the water (Baltimore Harbor), is what lead to the Captains Marshall.
