Biography

Carol captivates her audiences and readers with her humor and common sense techniques for improving relationships, whether at home or in the workplace. You feel like she is sitting down and having a conversation with you. Carol has a B.S in Social Group Work and a M.S. in Adult Education. For her Master's project, Carol did extensive research on personality-type styles, which led to the development of her Four Perceptions Self-appraisal and Personal Profile. For this revised edition, Carol added the section, Defusing Your Hot Buttons that includes "The Comfort Zone Thieves Self-Appraisal," which illustrates how and why your comfort zone is shrinking, and "The Hot Button Reaction Assessment," which shows you how to unmask the fears that fuel your reactions. She developed a simple process to turn reactions into desired outcomes. Midwest Book 5-star book review states: “Carol provides an intimate look into relationship dynamics and how each one of us can determine the power of our reactions.” When Carol was 30, she made two promises to herself, that someday she would climb the 600-foot Dunn River Falls in Jamaica and would learn and practice Tai Chi. 35 years latter she finally kept both promises. Carol enjoys challenges that encourage her to rise to her full potential and lead to spiritual insights. She was widowed in 2001. She and her new husband live in Florida.

Inspiration

As part of my bachelor’s degree, I studied Carl Jung’s descriptions of personality types. That started a love affair of typology. 25 years later as part of my master’s degree project I developed the four perceptual styles. I tested it over and over until I eventually had Empowering and Limiting Tendencies for each style. I NEVER wanted to be a writer but workshop participants begged me to write a book. The more workshops I did, the more insights I gained until I had too much information for a workshop. One of my master’s degree professors told me I was an excellent writer so he always had to save my papers for last! That single comment gave me faith in myself that I had the ability to write a book. The draft was a disaster but eventually, through the help of a local writer’s group, I have the current book that has received 5-star book reviews. I also have a professional proofreader/editor which is absolutely essential as an author. For the second edition of my book, I added a new section that has more self-appraisals. I also added caricatures of the 4 adult and 4 children styles and other cartoons to illustrate points. The graphics add a lot to the book. When people flick through the book, the graphics catch their attention and draw them into the book.
