Lyrical, powerful and accessible poems about family, the Holocaust, aging, politics and travel.
In strong, accessible language, A Step in Time continues to explore the Steinberg's past, her relationships with her parents and her children, and broadens her outlook to considerations of aging, politics, her love affair with the island of Andros in Greece, and observations of New Yorkers from her vantage point in a Manhattan delicatessen. The poems are written in free verse with an occasional sonnet or villanelle. Many end with surprise punches.
