Description

Javelinas aren't pretty, but they're fascinating. The author lived on the Sonoran Desert when she photographed and studied the habits of these animals. She found them to be excellent parents. They travel the desert washes in families or packs, and their favorite foods are the roots of cactus plants. What makes them different from domestic pigs is a scent gland that smells really awful.
