Worlds Largest Holiday Celebration for Kids

Worlds Largest Holiday Celebration for Kids

It is great to hear from all the new members and see the group and the site grow.

I am the founder of Dreams for Kids. For nineteen years, we have provided life changing activities and leadership programs for youth. Eleven years ago we created the first program of its kind in Chicago, giving children with disabilities the opportunity to play sports for the first time in their lives.

Since Kiss of Dolphin was published last year, Dreams for Kids has begun a global expansion. We are working with schools to bring kids together of every ability, gender, race, religion, and socio economic background.

Our mission is to provide children of great diversity the opportunity to work together on cooperative projects which serve the local and world communities. By working together in diverse groups, our children will see past perceived differences and learn to appreciate our shared humanity.

This year, our traditional holiday event for homeless and underprivileged kids is already being hosted by groups in 27 cities in 6 countries around the world.

From a single visit to a homeless shelter to as grand a party as ours has grown to- the hosting of 1,200 kids- I invite each of you to add your hometown to the list.

Let’s make this an unforgettable collective day of giving hope to our children who need it the most.

Help & Inspiration

I hear ya, Keyot32. Breaking into publication is one of the hardest parts of writing. It took me 20 years to finally find one with one of my books. It was one of the most recent books I wrote with another being accepted shortly after it was released. It will happen, just be patient, work hard and do a lot of research as you go. Write and read anything you can in that genre plus read books on writing. While you are learning the craft, it would be a good idea to begin learning marketing because that is something you will need to know after your books are published. I didn't do that so now I'm behind and my book is paying the price.

Even though it is hard, never give up. Keep submitting your manuscript and keep writing! Once you have finished the next book, start submitting that one out too. Then begin the next book and keep the cycle going until you find that one publisher that will accept your work. Its up hill from there but you have to keep writing. Don't ever stop. Keep your eyes and ears open for ideas because they come from everywhere, including books. What ever your genre is, become an expert in it, that means read a lot of books in that genre. See why these books are popular and what you can do to make yours stand out from theirs.

Hope this helps!
