New Writers Forums We have launched our new Writers Groups Forums, thank you to everyone who provided feedback and continue to give us ideas on how to improve.
A friend of mine told me about this site, so I just signed on. I have no clue exactly where I should post this, so I'm hoping this group will be the right place.
Hi, Belle. It's nice to meet you. I don't think anybody much knows why we're here, and it's been quiet. LOL. But if there's something you would like to discuss or tell us about yourself, have at it. :)

I think I learn something that I can use every day, in part from other groups of people trying desperately to go the traditional route, as well as those who have done so successfully. I think what's amazed me the most is how much time that I'd rather spend working some of these folks spend lamenting the fact that this or that agent "didn't connect with their narrative voice" or some such thing. In a nutshell, that's WHY I self-published.

We are Independent Authors, thinking outside the box when it comes to marketing, readers, the whole gammit. It's not jsut a site for self promotion, it's a place to bring up issues and concerns to the members in group which may/maynot help someone else. Why am I here? I can stand to learn as much as I can.

Hi, Carol. I think when something new starts up, nobody except the founders have any clear idea exactly what it's about. We straggle in and look around and wait for the canapes to come around. LOL.
I started this subgroup as a place where people might address some of the problems specific to indepedents, share experiences that might be useful, or offer suggestions. And of course, there are at least a thousand things we can gripe about while we're at it.
Let's see: tomorrow I'll draft a letter in reply to the reply to my original letter to the Small Press Dept. of Barnes and Noble, because their stores are not allowed to stock my book, which was published by their "strategic partner," iUniverse. LOL. It's like a three-ring circus.
Carol McPhee I have no idea either, lol. I join these things then wait and wait and wait and most of the time the groups die or I forget about them and move on to where there is more current action. I had hoped there would be a learning curve here with a possibility to attract readers and find out what appeals to those who have time to sit down with a book. Carol
It's nice to meet you, misswriter. I think we're still kind of wandering around here getting acquainted. But already I've met nice people with various writing backgrounds and experiences. So just jump in wherever you like.
