Biography
Hailing from the Midwest, Mary Ann Hutchison is a transplanted Wisconsinite who spent over 40 years in the legal field as: a legal secretary, Administrative Assistant for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Courtroom Clerk and Judicial Administrative Assistant for the Pima County Superior Court. After retiring she began to seriously put words on paper and writes short stories, memoirs, middle-grade, and suspense stories. One husband, two spoiled felines, a blended family of six children, 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren constitute her immediate family. Her writing family derives from her affiliation with Arizona Mystery Writers (past-Presiding Chair and writing contest coordinator), the Society of Southwestern Authors (former member of its Board of Directors, Coordinator of the Society's media promotion and writing contest), and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. “Rain, Rain, Go Away…” her newest adult suspense novel is due out soon. Justice is often delayed, but WILL NOT be denied. Her short stories and memoirs are included in “Good Old Days" magazines, “Thanksgiving to Christmas: A Patchwork of Stories,” (AWOC.COM Publishing) and Arizona Mystery Writers anthology, "A Way With Murder" (XLibris), and “Gecko Tales” — an e-book available on Amazon.com or from the author. The novella, “Cascabel,” an e-book, can be found on Amazon.com. The-wide open western frontier in 1865 is the backdrop for chilling revenge and murder. “Moochi's Mariachis, her YA novel, is available from Open Books Press, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble.com, Borders.com and as an e-book. With great pride, “Moochi” is now a part of the Tucson Unified School District’s Title I ESL Program. A portion of the proceeds of the book is donated to the Arizona Kidney Foundation. Her website is: www.bloomincane.com.
Inspiration
Guts and desire found me in John Wayne's arms. Yes, the Duke - my first love - held me tightly and did not call security to have me thrown off his "Rio Lobo" movie set. My background in the legal field, which is founded on human foibles, have had people constantly say, "you should write a book." A love of Mariachi music in my teens finally became "Moochi's Mariachis" - strong friendships help a dream come true despite all obstacles. Chills ala Hitchcock made me want to do the same for my readers - try on "Cascabel" an e-novella - for size. Based on a true story, a terrible event in a young girl's life that went unpunished, brought "Rain, Rain, Go Away..." to life. I want to right that wrong. Simply put: life gave me the ingredients; it's up to me to cook the books.
