Biography

Steven grew up in Up state New York, playing in the woods around his home. Enlisted in the Air force. He was a crew chief working on fighter aircraft and cross trained into Air Traffic control after marrying Detra in 1980. Detra grew up a Air Force brat a little bitt of everywhere but predominately on the west side of the US. She likes the domestic side of life. Sold her horse after graduating high school and enlisted in the Air Force working in Electronics she met Steve when both were station at George AFB in California. Both were Square Dancers and became a couple. They married in February 1980. Writing isn't new to them but Demesne Valley of Mystery is the first time any but they have seen their work.

Inspiration

Steven was and still is an avid reader and introduced Detra to his favorites. Ann McCaffery's Dragon Rider's of Pern Series, Tom Swift. If it was printed he had to have it. Books, comics and new technologies. As Bristol County Jr was fond of saying. “It was the coming thing.” He still has his first bought copy of Ann McCaffrey, The Ship Who Sang, Robert Heinlien, Have Spacesuit Will Travel and Tom Swift sitting on the bookshelf. Authors that helped in that getaway, Anne McCaffrey, Robert Heinlien, Poul Anderson, Terry Brooks, and Edgar Rice Burroughs, who gave them the name of their daughter Dejah. Detra read Shakespeare, Victoria Holt and most anything that had a horse in it.
