Inspiration
VL has always had a fascination with life after death and the Divine. Her encounters with the supernatural began at a very early age, as family members discussed encounters with the dead. This subject of life after death is a major influence on this storyline. VL was also inspired by her own love story with her husband Robert Parker, who is a Deist and a rationalist. He and his Christian wife have engaged in many of the philosophical discussions that although fictionalized, are found throughout the story. The author has always written and encouraged her children to pursue their dreams. When her daughter Sarah C.E. Parker wrote her first novel at age twelve and published it at age 14, VL was inspired and convicted to practice what she preached. So the author is living by the words she shares with her daughters, "Dare to dream and rise above them."
