Inspiration
Inspiration for Lessons From the Phantom of the Opera definitely came from Gaston Leroux's original novel. As much as I love the stage and movie version, it really cannot be fully understood without the backdrop of Leroux. Erik's pleading words, "All I wanted was to be loved for myself," has been the driving force behind my writing. Inspiration for The Price of Innocence came after doing an in-depth study of the life and times of Parisian life in the 1870's. A story was born and the rest is history.
