Biography
Thomas J. McGoldrick was born in 1943 and raised in the Pacific Northwest. He was educated by strict Sisters of Providence and Benedictine Monks. He pursued a colorful and adventurous lifestyle. He hired on with Army Audit Agency traveling extensively on and off the job. Worked and lived in 6 different US states, West Germany, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and the Marshall Islands. Traveled as a tourist to Canada, Mexico, India, Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Saipan, Guam, Wake Island, The Federated States of Micronesia, Greece, Ibiza Spain, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Dominica, Martinique and ended retired and living in the in the Philippine Islands. He always went native to learn the most he could from the local people. His writings are of his travel and living experiences with the peoples of those countries. He knows the best part of each adventure is what happens along the way to the destination. Life is filled with opportunities to experience people, places and things and the author did his best to enjoy life all the time. I’m sure you will enjoy these books as much as I did re-living the experiences as I enjoyed writing them. Friends, reading the drafts said they couldn’t put them down and just had to keep on reading to discover the next adventure. Also check out Mobipocket.com for all my books as e-books. Inspiration
Research into family history met with a stone impenetrable wall with my ggrandfather. I would so have liked to learn more of that line of the family. But, alas, as many other Irishmen coming to the USA for a new start, the past was left behind and was never discussed. Therefore I could not learn from his history. Many others in the family had also tried and failed in similar attempts even going as far as trips back to the old country. SOoooooooooo. I decided I did not want that to happen about me and my history so I documented the family history for family uses and wrote in compartmentalized segments about my adventurous life (|Many ancestors lived adventurous lives too). I always enjoyed listening to and telling a good story and many friends encouraged me over the years to "write a book about that" so that others could enjoy the experience too. But, I didn't for many years using excuses of insufficient time and falsely assuming others had lived equally as adventurous lives. But, I found out that few people live truly adventurous lives and that they really want to experience excitement of life even if it is through the recounting of adventures by someone else. So, I set about writing of my adventures. As I wrote, I found that there was significant enjoyment in reliving many of the exciting times. And, there was not so much pain in reliving the "bad" moments/events. And, when I let friend read my novels, they were overjoyed with the stories. Yeah, that made me feel even better. I have accomplished my objectives and can rest happy and serene as I too reflect back over my many adventures in many lands. Just watching the news on TV the names of places I've lived and enjoyed come up and trigger mental images of my times in those places. Instant recall is fantastic. I hope you too will enjoy my novels.
