Kevin Farran
Life is but an adventure to be pursued without fear of failure and wonder at all it holds. There are no rearview mirrors in life.

    Look and Listen

    Biography

Author Kevin Farran was born in a leprosy colony in Northern Rhodesia and by the age of three had tangled with his first lion, which explains his aversion to cats and poor baseball pitch. Kevin was trained in theater in Canada at the U of C initially before finishing at the Vancouver Playhouse. The following two decades were spent performing and living in the Orient and Europe. Having left the theater in 2000 he concentrated on his other passions, writing, football and food. Having owned three French restaurants and raised two professional footballers he has also found the time to write eight novels. He is an avid mountain runner and cyclist. Kevin loves Great Danes and old Volkswagens and harbors a wish to own his own Morgan with strap down belts on the hood. He now spends his time writing and renovating period homes in Europe.

    Inspiration

Inspiration for me came initially through the stage. I love reading plays and escaping into the world I see when reading only dialogue. This ability to 'see' the play made me want to write my own dialogue. The works of Yukio Mishima, Sartre, Shakespeare and Johnson to name but a few greatly influence me. I recently read many of the works of Karen Connelly both her poetry and the fine novel, The Lizard Cage. Half of my reading experience of the Man Booker awards has left me puzzled as to how some of the nominees got there and the other half of my reading has left me spellbound by the talent of others.
