Book Summary: At the end of summer 1968, a surprise pregnancy changes sixteen-year-old Brenda Wilson's life forever. With her father Deacon John Wilson shouting his religious views to prove her reputation and worth are ruined, her unborn child's father rejecting her, and the church shunning her, Brenda's emotional fury takes her on a journey from the church house, to the dope house, to the whorehouse, and eventually the jailhouse. Will she find her way and redeem her faith in God or will she keep running from her pain and to further destruction? Telishia wrote this story many years ago as a screenplay, but decided to write it as a novel. She describes the book as fiction, but admits that many of the characters are loosely based on people she knows and many of the settings and locations in the novel are in Flint, Michigan.
