Biography

I have a Master of Science degree in Biology and Human Nutrition, a B.S. in Psychology and a secondary science teaching certificate. After working in the medical field as a physician’s assistant, I felt called to teach and pursued a secondary science teaching certification in the state of New Jersey. I obtained my first teaching job in the public high school where I had completed my student teaching and continued teaching secondary science in the public sector for another nine years. During that time I taught in a rough urban school and received numerous teaching honors, including being named as Colorado’s Outstanding Biology Teacher. I currently write about teaching, publishing magazine articles and working on academic/educational products. I recently wrote for a 6th grade science textbook--an experience that let me to appreciate the textbooks I've used through the years... My first book (a devotional work for teachers), was just released by Judson Press. I'm learning about marketing while I continue to support the teachers of my own children - volunteering at the local public elementary and middle school, serving on the executive board of the PTA and even performing as the local elementary school mascot, a capacity in which I am the human under the costume of a horse.

Inspired by: * A desire to share the frustrations and challenges that teachers (particularly public school/inner city school), teachers encounter each day * Jesus' incredible focus and teaching talent * The luxuriously rich and heavy air here in Baltimore (came here from Denver!)
