Namaste I love to write, splash colors across canvases and sing devotional songs. In my life I have experienced great bliss through creative expression.
Biography
I am the eldest daughter of Jamaican, West Indian immigrants. I grew up in a Queens, NY project located near the East River. Surrounded by aging colonial mansions, past remnants of swamp and forest life, vast stretches of tangled urban lots, this environment provided the impetus for an already active imagination given to intense daydreaming and creative flights of fancy. My sensitive nature, unlimited abundance of love and optimism for God, mankind and nature influenced me to blossom creatively and artistically. Drawing on life experiences, a keen imagination and a fast budding interest in mysticism, I began writing while working in the Post Office. I would jot down poetic lines while sorting mail and going about my clerical duties. I sincerely believe being able to express myself through poetry saved me from a creative death. Recently, I completed a book on my travels through India, some of my poetry is incorporated in the book.
Inspiration
Namaste ~ I bow to the Light within you. I love painting and writing poetry. My work is a visual and poetic diary of my spiritual journey. From the highest peaks in the Himalayas to many of the sacred ashrams in holy India I have been blessed with the opportunity to journey through that divine land eleven times. My spiritual quest began on June 6, 1970 with the birth of my daughter. During the birth I had an amazing out-of-body-experience which catapulted me out of ordinary 3 dimensional awareness into an astounding, metaphysical reality which I know survives and surpasses death, misery, joy, materialism and all that is dualistic and worldly. A space of being in which Pure Love, Life and Light exists Eternally. This event inspired me to explore the intriguing inner realms of Self through Yoga, Meditation, Rosicrucianism and other spiritually laden paths.
