Biography

I grew up in Lorain, Ohio, a small steel town on the shores of Lake Erie. After college, I met and married Mike Powers, another Lorainite. We moved to Seattle, Washington, where we raised our daughters. After our daughters traveled across the country to attend college, Mike I transplanted ourselves to Englewood, Florida, where we now live. We are busy chasing after our grandsons who keep us young.

Inspiration

I lived the book I wrote. Diagnosed with breast cancer and liver disease left me few options. I had a mastectomy for the breast cancer but the liver disease prevented any further cancer treatment. I set out to heal my liver. I became my own guinea pig. Extensive research convinced me that my best path to health was to stop my multiple vitamin and mineral supplements and to eat organic. After six months on this regiment, my liver returned to normal. I continue this diet to fight cancer recurrence.
