Biography

Sam Bonnamy is married and lives in a village in the North of England. He likes country walks, trees, the garden and growing things, and is interested in history, literature, theatre, politics and philosophy. Apart from English he speaks two and a half languages (German, Spanish, and a bit of Italian). Sam turned to writing after taking early retirement from teaching, and sees the internet as a major influence in the future of publishing. He has written a volume of mystery stories, "The Other Mr Holmes", set in Victorian London and published by Writers' Exchange e-books (Readers Eden.) He also has a new novel, "Hero the Amazon", forthcoming from Renaissance E-Books and available from Fictionwise. Sam Bonnamy is a pen name. Inspiration

Inspiration? Obviously - says Sam - Conan Doyle for the Mycroft Holmes stories, but also George Macdonald Fraser (he of "Flashman") for the meticulous attention to historical detail which I try to emulate. For the Hero stories, Patrick O'Brian (Aubrey and Maturin), because he writes so well about the sea. I don't know whether I even begin to approach these role models, but at least they give me the necessary lead. And lastly the master, P G Wodehouse. I'll never reach his heights, but he's often at the back of my mind when I write.
