Biography
I sometimes feel like a one-woman "Think Tank"...I have so many ideas continually popping into my head. I credit this to my 30+ years studying the mind (especially the inner, subconscious mind), spiritual concepts called The Ageless Wisdom, and plain, old curiosity assisting an intuitive, introspective mental focus. After 20 years of using "mind tools" such as dreams, meditation, intuition and visualization to help myself become a super-fast, "auto-editing" writer, I finally wrote the process down in my forthcoming (as soon as my agent finds a buyer) book: Instant Inspiration: How to Have Creativity on Tap...Anytime, All the Time...and Never Have Writer's Block Again"...... In the process of carefully crafting my own writer's platform (the latest necessity for writers who want to become traditionally published) I discovered that I have a talent for quirky, creative, timely marketing techniques. So, what else could I do but begin offering to assist other writers in creating and using similar marketing tools for their book promotions-customized Blurbs, Tag Lines, Quizzes, Surveys, Polls, Promotional Events, etc...to help sell more books! All this and many more Writer's Resources can be found at my website: www.ritamilios.com
Inspiration
I literally became a writer overnight....it was one of many synchronicities that have led me down a spiritual Path since childhood. It is a curious, quirky, story that begins with a visit to the library. I would often "mindlessly" troll the bookshelves, knowing that any book that I was meant to have would "speak" to me and make its presence known. Yet, when The Writer's Handbook practically screamed at me, "take me home", I was baffled. At this point, I had never entertained the idea of writing, and certainly not writing professionally. Still, I took the book home, and that night, my life was forever transformed. After the first few pages, I knew this was what I was meant to do. In another twist of fate, almost exactly four years later, I had an article in that year's edition of The Writer's Handbook, the same book that had started it all. It was a reprint of an article that I had written for The Writer Magazine, on Writing Articles from Personal Experience (they are both published by the same company). Since then, there has been no looking back. I have gone on to do many different kinds of writing....books and articles for children and adults, test assessment and curriculum materials. even a video script on Positive Thinking for the American Management Association....and as always, I still continue to let my intuition be my guide. It has led me recently to inspirations of other kinds....namely collaborations with other talented and creative individuals, so that I am now venturing off into even more new horizons. Never knowing what exciting opportunity awaits me each time I open my mailbox (the virtual one or the physical one) or answer my phone, makes life continuously energizing and offers fodder for even more creative ideas and inspirations to sprout. And isn't that what makes life wonderful?
