Inspiration
I decided to write a "small nonprofit management" book. At the same time I had no idea where to begin. I "Googled" "How to Write a Book" and found some software for $15(USD) that guaranteed I'd write a book in 90 days. I had blown $15 on other things so I ordered it. In the meantime I did some informal research at several bookstores and found tons of books on "management". The software arrived. It had an option "fiction". I chose this option knowing I always had a few stories rattling around in my head. Within 90 I finished a rough draft of "Pine Woods", my first novel. Currently my inspiration comes from people I meet and from reminiscing on boyhood "adventures". I am writing the fifth story in what, I hope, will become a series.
