Contemporary fiction of any length is my medium. Spice it up with magic realism or modern fairytales and I'm happy to play. Writing is the distillation of life/Life, capturing its intense essence.

    Look and Listen

    Biography

Other than being a writer, I am a mother, a trained counsellor, and a Baha’i. These facets of my life sustain my creativity. My first novel is titled “Through Turquoise Eyes” a contemporary fiction, threaded with magic realism. I shall soon be packing its bags and casting it out into the wild world to find its mission in life. In anticipation of empty nest syndrome I am popping sproglets, flash and short fiction. Soon enough they too will be submitting to poker-faced passport photos and booking their electronic OEs (overseas experiences, as we say here in NZ). I love a challenge and respond by thinking outside the box, square, geometrical shape of your choice. This is a long-winded way of saying I cherish my imagination. I am intrigued by the sensuous nature of our global village and all who dwell therein. Writing is the distillation of life/Life, capturing its intense essence, not matter what genre. My own taste in literature, movies, television, music, food is eclectic. I’ll try anything, at least once (some trips are best left in the past! ). Good writing (of my own and of others) thrills me, and I know, there waiting at the end of any agony-filled tunnel, is joy.

    Inspiration

Writers from cultures different to mine are inspiring for me. The colours, tastes, smells; and the lyrical, spiritual language. I search for the cultural uniqueness of characters and settings, and the universality that binds us all. South American, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Asian writers fill my bookshelves.
