Biography
Born in 1943, in the middle of WWII, I early developed a love for history and literature. Reading was a great delight for me, especially when it concerned adventure. Whether it was the world, the United States, or some region within easy reach of home, I enjoyed it. I was particularly interested in wars, intrigues, and explorations around the globe. As a child, I read one of the great masterpieces of literature: War and Peace. In 1962, I joined the United States Navy and served as a radioman aboard two different cruisers: The U.S.S. Oklahoma City (light cruiser) and The U.S.S. ST. Paul (heavy cruiser). During my stay in the Navy, I also served in the Seventh Fleet Communications Division, which placed me in the midst of the Vietnam War. Honorably discharged in 1968, I returned to civilian life still burning with the ambition to write. In 1973, I was born again; that is, I placed my faith in Jesus Christ. I joined a large Baptist church and almost immediately began serving. Although later transferring my membership to a smaller Fundamental Baptist church, I continued to find ways to serve. I have now spent over thirty years in the service of my Lord and Saviour. I have served as janitor, Mission Board member, Sunday School teacher, Junior Church Assistant, Sunday School Secretary, and Bus Ministry worker. In addition, I founded and for a number of years headed a Christian ministry for supporting missionaries and evangelists. I also served as Financial Secretary for my church for over 15 years and continue to do so at my new church in Florida. While studying the book of Genesis, I got the initial idea and plots for my books. I plan on a series of Bible-based books, plus I have started writing a novel based in 19th century America. For further information regarding this author, visit my website. I also write a newsletter Point of View. I am happily married to my lovely wife, Teresa. We celebrated our 30th anniversary in Septembter, 2011. While not having children of our own, we have been actively involved in our church's childrens ministries. I also help my wife in her own business. Aside from eating the products, I also manage the website and an associated blog. Living in Port Charlotte, Florida, we take 24/7 care of Teresa's mother. Fortunately, I love my mother-in-law and don't mind the sacrifice. In the process, both of us have become more attuned to such things as Alzheimers and its effects on people.
Inspiration
I have desired to write since I was a child. But I did't write my first novel until I was 60 years of age. The inspiration that led to my first and subsequent stories was my Bible reading. It was while reading Genesis that I realized that there simply wasn't much general information about the people. God wrote to acquaint us with sin and the need for a Savior. But I write to entertain. Researching the times, the people, and the events has been a great spiritual journey for me. I am a stronger Christian as a result. Do I want people to buy my books? Yes. But I would write them anyhow, because I love writing and benefit from all the research.
