    Biography

    Focusing on publications highlighting her gift of spoken words, she began creating niche poetry collections that opened many hearts, minds and souls. Focusing on publications highlighting her gift of spoken words, she began creating niche poetry collections that opened many hearts, minds and souls. As a contributing writer she has been highlighed in many anthologies including the recent "Keeping the Faith" anthology edited by Essence bestselling author Vanessa Miller. Osbey focuses utilizing her pen to shine a light on universal themes of love, common disturbances; and from the ordinary to the extraordinary as she delves deep to share and create commentaries that make you ponder about this life. The author utilizes narrative voice and third person in ways that offers the reader a very intimate look at her inspirations. Perhaps it is the author's life experiences as a loving daughter, caring educator, and community activist that define and mold her literary offerings. As a former literary teaching educator for Chicago Public School System, she helped to shape some of America's youngest minds and offered an ability to have discourse in open and honest ways. She feels her goal as a writer is to create a safe space for others to think, breathe, and learn from her universe. She currently resides in New York City where she collaborates with the Artist Outlet Consortium, a think tank for create minds and has been a featured at the legendary Nuyorican Poetry Cafe. She is working on multiple projects and will be releasing new work in 2012.

    Inspiration

    Inspirations of life from children she has passed on the street, to intimate converations with family, friends or youth she has worked with. Osbey often finds herself musing about life, then uses her pen to comment about what she has observed. Her earlier works appears to ooze from being inspired by the work of Gwendolyn Brooks, Nikki Giovanni and Langston Hughes. Her work in community organizations and non profits has offered observations and experiences that help to develop her community poetic offerings...as of to date as well as universal issues that has affected the common man.
