Petra Martin was raised in the United States and Germany by an American father and a German mother. She speaks German and English and has always been attracted to language. Her bicultural upbringing and travels often led her to ponder the similarities and differences between people.
On a trip behind what was then the Iron Curtain, Petra stayed with several families and realized that Sting was right. The Russians really did love their children, too. It was then that Petra came to understand that our emotions are a universal language that unites us all, regardless of where we live, what we believe, or what language we speak.
Petra created a tool, called Mixed Emotions, which helps people recognize and articulate their feelings. It is her hope that it will help individuals find their bliss, and help couples, co-workers, families, and perfect strangers realize how very much they have in common.
Petra graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a bachelor's degree in English and completed a certification program in poetry at the University of Washington. She has worked as a writer and editor in public relations and the software industry for 13 years.
Petra and her son Adrian live on a small farm on Whidbey Island, in Washington State.
