Biography

Paul E. Cooper was born in 1931 in Commerce, OK. He has always enjoyed telling his overseas oil patch adventures - first to his eight children and then writing long, descriptive letters to his friends and relations. He has always dreamed of sharing those stories about experiences in an Islamic country. :Libya: The Dream or NIghtmare" is his first novel and only a touch of his many stories. In 1980, he accepted an assignment to work in the Libyan desert oilfields. There he started keeping a daily account of his experiences and later on with his family in Tripoli, Libya and Roma, Italy. We were offered an engineering position in Jakarta, Indonesia, with assignment in Palenbang, Sumarata and Singapore. He continued writing long descriptive letters to his family and friends about the daily life experiences. Paul started the Libyan novel based on his experience some ten years ago, first to use as articles in travel magazines which later became the chapters in this fictionalized verson. Paul and his wife have retired to resort lifestyle in Arizona which allowed the time to put this true-to-life adventure into a very different, but interesting piece of work.
