This author's incentive for writing is to give young readers a brief respite from the world of fantasy they are so fond of. In her books they read about real life and real people.

Biography
Author Olive "Livvy" Huisman taught music for thirty years, then retired to write, something she'd always dreamed of doing. After taking several courses, she settled into the genre of children's literature and has had several short stories published, as well as two books. She resides in Waldorf, Maryland with her husband, a retired government employee. They have three children and six grandchildren, who remind her what it's like to be a teenager in today's world.
Inspiration
My inspiration came from reading books like "Bridge to Terabithia" by Katherine Paterson, who wrote the kind of stories I felt young readers were hungry for. Also, I had a teacher in high school who once told me that someday I would find my niche and it would be writing. I didn't believe her at the time, but I have learned since that she was right. I now know the joy that comes from having a young reader approach me and tell me she liked my book because it made her laugh and it made her cry! My goal, exactly.
