Biography
Michael Cassidyne, BA, MA is the translator of Through Hell, to Heaven and Back! This book was originally written in the Russian language by a Russian gentleman, known as Vassily Solitsin, who had emigrated into Canada from the Soviet Union sometime in the 1950s. Through his manuscript, Solitsin expressed in both horrific and awe-inspiring detail the true account of his brutal arrest by Soviet authorities in 1931, including the torture he endured which was fatal enough to result in his physical death. As evidenced by the fact that he lived to tell about it, even though his body was pronounced clinically dead by Soviet authorities, Solitsin did not in fact die. His self-typed manuscript contained the fascinating details of his experience in the afterlife, an account rich in details the likes of which have never before been published. The experience he recounted is not simply a cogent and eloquent statement of the existence of the afterlife, but through the guides that supported him on his journey, profound spiritual insights reverberate throughout the manuscript. Michael Hook met the Russian-speaking son of Vassily Solitsin in the early 1990's while enrolled in a Master's degree program in political science, and it was through the subsequent bond that developed between two like minds, that the secret and never-before publicized manuscript containing his father's story, was entrusted to him. After being told by Solitsin's son that the manuscript contained 'profound spiritual insights' that could surely transform a person's life, Hook undertook a sustained study of the Russian language and proceeded to undertake the formidable task of translating the 200-page Russian manuscript into the English language. Through Hell, to Heaven and Back! is the successful fruit of that 'labour of love'
