History lover: Regency England, Irish Nationalism, WWI and WWII, historical mysteries and researching the genealogy of my Irish ancestors.
Biography
I grew up in North Jersey in the 1950s/1960s. Although it was very suburban at the time, I also had easy access to all the great venues in New York City: Broadway, Madison Square Garden, Greenwich Village, etc. I've lived in Texas, Maryland and Arizona, and although I have enjoyed every place I've ever lived, I LOVE Arizona, especially the High Country near Flagstaff. Before my two daughters were born, I was a legal secretary. After they started school, I reinvented myself and became a Special Ed assistant and tutor. I retired three years ago to write my novel and to spend more time with my husband of 30+ years and my granddaughter.
Inspiration
I was one of those students who actually liked to write papers, especially for my history and English Lit classes. My early efforts outside of college included writing a neighborhood newsletter and occasional articles for a genealogy magazine. In 2005, I decided to try my hand at writing a novel that had been swirling around in my head for years. I wanted to write a sequel to Pride and Prejudice, but something a little different. I imagined that these characters were based on real people, and it was quite enjoyable to give them their own personal histories as well as their descendants right up to the late 1940s. My novel, Pemberley Remembered, also includes a romance in postwar London between two Americans, so I was able to combine several interests all in one book.
