Inspiration
Mary Jean Kelso has always loved mysteries and read and collected Nancy Drew books as a youngster. The influence of this can be seen in her first novel Mystery in Virginia City which has recently been re-released by Wings-press.com as Goodbye Is Forever. Later she read Phyllis A. Whitney mysteries. These stories are intriguing and provide the reader with a trip to another country. Travel is one of Mary Jean's most treasured things to do. She has traveled by train when her father worked for the Southern Pacific and began RVing when her children were young. Many miles were logged over fourty years including times when she drove a 33 foot motorhome to camp and write or do research. This hobby also lead to her writing a column for Rving On and articles for Trailblazer Magazine. Still, her love of novels drove her desire to write about historic sites an situations that would provide mental trips for readers through the characters and provide bits of history that aren't "as boring as the history I had to learn in high school."
