Marvin Wilson is a preacher's kid, a family man, husband, father, and grandfather. He has had several professional careers, including: rock and roll musician, nightclub entertainer, construction contractor, Buddhist minister, network marketer, motivational speaker, sales trainer, and adult education teacher. Marvin considers his life to be a spiritual journey, and each of life’s experiences, whether troublesome or pleasurable, to be lessons. Teachings from God. Throughout his entire adult life, he has been journal keeper, a reflective writer about these lessons, and the attendant wisdom and understanding gained through experiencing them. Marvin likes to write books that share spiritual insights and inspirations in an engaging, often times humorous, sometimes irreverent, and even ribald and sexy way, through the spinning of an entertaining tale.
Being a Hippie, a part of the Love Generation. Acid trips and marijuana buzzes. Being a musician and entertainer, learning how to communicate through music and vibrations. The Bible, which I was force-fed as a youngster to the point of rejecting all things religious, and which I now have come to understand the wisdom of , and read it regularly. Being an avid reader, I enjoy science fiction; historical fiction (I particularly love James Clavell’s writing; “Shogun” in particular); history; scientific writings, especially in the quantum mechanics field; spiritually inquisitive books … I’m a big fan of Elaine Pagels. Taoist philosophy and Zen Buddhist training. The study of early Gnostic Christian writings. Nearly losing my life and soul to a serious crack cocaine addiction. When I was in the throes of addiction, fearing for my life and almost ready to accept my hell-bound fate, I was inspired by a book entitled “The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure” by Chris Prentiss. His story of how he overcame ten years of heroin addiction, with countless rehabs and relapses, and how he finally found his real and lasting CURE gave me hope that I could do the same.
