    Inspiration

My family inspired much of my early writing. I come from a long line of cooks on both sides of my family so writing three cookbooks was a natural for me. My Grandma on my Mom's side of the family sailed from Gaspe, Quebec, Canada to Rochester, New York in the early 1900's to care for her siste-in-law, who was expecting a child. Once the child was born, the doctor who had helped with the delivery offered for Grandma to come work for he and his wife. She did and they recognized her capabilities in the kitchen. They sent her to cooking school, where she thrived. After several years she returned to her native Gaspe and eventually married my Grandpa.

She has been a real inspiration to me for years. My Mom was a cook, My paternal Grandpa was a cook, as were several of his brothers, My Mom's brothers were cooks, so you see, I think I got cooking in my blood.

After writing the cookbooks I wanted to explore some different things so I wrote a Bed and Breakfast Guidebook for Alberta. I also wrote a little book of wit and wisdom and more recently published "The Joy of Finding God", a spiritual, not religious book. This book came about because of my deep interest in spiritual things and my continuing exploration of spirituality.

Two of my cookbooks were picked up by a French publisher and were distributed in Quebec, France, Belgium, Switzerland and parts of Africa.

I've always wanted to be a teacher so I am now satisfying that goal by teaching other authors what I've learned about writing, publishing and promoting books.
