Biography

I am a lifelong resident of St Louis, Missouri area. We split our time in Missouri and Florida. I have a published romantic suspense under the pseudonym Lynda LaPorte (see www.lyndalaporte.com for more info)- "Edge of Paradise" trade paperback and e-book, published by Wings Press, www.wings-press.com and my 2 suspense WIP are "Ghost Riders" and "Evil Eye" Creativity- I was always making up songs for my son and nephew and nieces and decided rather than forget the little song like most of the others in the past, I'd write the music for it and keep it. I used the computer and keyboard. The computer could play the song so I thought why not put pictures to it? Sooo the rest is history. I created a new genre of eBooks for kids- At present I have about 100 musical e-picture books for computer interactives for preschool and primary age, in various stages of development. My Musical eBooks are in various formats. I learned HTML, FLIP, PDF to make the books play on the computer. My picture books include real time photography which I share credits with an award winning Southern California photojournalist MarySue Roberts. Some of the books have artwork which I do. In 2004 I started my own publishing house GUARDIAN ANGEL PUBLISHING, INC. which keeps me more than busy. Most of my Musical E-Picture Books will be sold there. In 2005 we have also added CD's, print books, in 2006 multiple lines were introduced: Wings of Faith- faith-based books, Academic Wings-educational tool books with teachers guides, puzzles, study lessons, seek and finds, fill in the blanks and more, Angel to Angel- where kids write for kids- books written, illustrated & published for kid authors (under 12), Littlest Angels- personalized books for kids and easy readers, and Guardian Angel Pets- personalized books for, by and about the animals that enrich our lives. The Angel to Angel line will be e-books for download. The website says submissions are closed but I am using my authors groups to find young authors at this point. I will be having contests at schools to find books to publish starting in Fall 2006. I have participated in Disney Kids Reading Program Days at Branson (Missouri)Boys & Girls Clubs where I gave away 150 free e-books and various other programs. I am a real estate broker and will have been married to the same man for 35 years on New Years Eve 2005. In my spare time I swim an hour a day, walk the beaches in Florida in the winter, create angel crafts and garden. Oddly enough, my formal education is Chemistry and Biology and my early work experience right out of college was as a chemical and biological research scientist at Monsanto.

Inspiration

I've always wanted to write a book and my first suspense Edge of Paradise was written in 3 months once I learned how to use a windows and a PC :) Somehow that book flowed. The music for my kids books have been rolling around for years and come out to play when children are present. So creating books with them has been pure joy. The kids appreciate them, learn the music and lyrics and learn FROM them which is an awesome experience. I've tried to make them an opportunity to learn. Many of the books are series for animals, fun things, health, science, even history. The children around me have been a wonderful inspiration for much of my children's work and I'm thankful to have had them enrich my life.
