Biography
Born in Ft. Benning, GA; grew up in Knoxville, TN - a great town! Graduated from Univ of Tenn, where if you grew up in Knoxville in the 60s and 70s, you pretty much automatically went to UT; graduated from Univ of Baltimore School of Law; passed PA Bar Exam and am licensed there now; however, "a funny thing happened on the way to the forum", as the movie was titled; I ended up in the ATL instead in 1990 and have been here ever since; for the past several years my "day job" has been as a title atty underwriting commercial real estate projects all over the U.S....I really enjoy it, but unexpectedly self-published a book - Lom's Words of Wisdom to the College-Bound Male (and Interested Females) - the 2nd Edition of which is available at my website - www.lomswords.com. Pls continue reading my "Inspiration" to see how I became an author...oh yeah, I finally got married in 2000 and we have been happily ensconced in our palatial estate in the new city of Milton, GA ever since.
Inspiration
My inspiration for writing came from myself...went to a high school grad's party a few years back and thought I'd write a few blurbs for him about college and life; ended up w/ 3 1/2 pages....got home that night and kept writing about issues young men face in college - mainly studies, girls and alcohol - then, of course, had to add my humble advice on how to handle these issues. I was introduced to a woman who'd self-published a book, she told me to buy "The Self-Publishing Manual" by Dan Poynter and take it from there...bought the book, read it thoroughly, highlighted and dog-eared several pages, and eventually published "Lom's Words of Wisdom to the College-Bound Male"...Self-publishing is the only way to go, especially in maintaining control of all aspects of your business, and yes, it is a business...I would have to say that I published the 1st Edition just to see if I could do it...the response was great, and I received a lot of advice on subjects I either needed to expound on or just include, so I wrote the 2nd Edition, which has sold phenomenally just from my website, but I'm at the point where I've sold all the copies I can to all my friends across the U.S. and need to make the jump to get some media attention in order to increase my sales in this "business" and see just how far I can go with this project.
