    Inspiration

I have been writing literally longer than I can remember. I'm not joking. I can't conjure up a memory of a time when I wasn't reading or writing, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I can’t remember a distinct moment when I fell in love with writing – I think she was with me from the very beginning. I have always found solace in writing and it is an added bonus that people seem to connect to my words. As many people who love the written word will attest, I would write for nothing. I won’t lie – very few things would please me as greatly as being able to dedicate the greatest extent of my waking hours (apart from my family, of course) to the written word, without the need to find an additional way to cover those trivial things like the mortgage, food, and central heating. I would definitely not turn down such an opportunity should it present itself. However, that’s not why I do it. I do it because I don’t know how to not do it. It is as much a part of my as my lungs, and I could no sooner stop writing as I could stop breathing. I read almost anything I can get my hands on. I don't particularly enjoy discovering that I have spend hours and hours on something boring or trite, but I don't consider those times wasted, either. Bad writers teach you just as much as good ones. As for writer’s I admire… Hemmingway is at the top of the list. However, just barely below him is Neil Gaiman, and it is to Neil Gaiman that I look when I seek inspiration, and it is Neil Gaiman that makes me want to write and share my mind with the world. I have spent my life pursuing several very different avenues of vocation during and after college, and I currently find myself in the classroom, where I've he eventually found his way into the classroom, where I have spent the last six years teaching English Literature and Composition. However, throughout my vocational journey, writing has been my constant companion, and when I'm not reading and writing as a function of his profession, you will no doubt find me reading and writing for the sheer joy and self-fulfillment of the experience. I write because I can't imagine not writing. I write because my two perfect children inspire me. I write because I am a writer.
