Biography

About me: - Texan - Lived in Sydney, Australia for the past 13 years and LOVE it! - Wife and mother of two sons - 7 & 10 - Spent 18 years in advertising and marketing - Gave it all up in June 07 to start Treasure Bound Books and write my first book - Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island - Cub Scout Leader - And Aggie (from Texas A&M University) People say I'm enthusiastic, reliable, generous and bold. I love to spend time with my family, entertain, go to the beach, bushwalk, read, eat out and I have an ongoing and relentless love affair with dark chocolate!

Inspiration

Inspired by my two sons (6 & 9), who were reluctant readers, I invented and patented a new type of interactive book that turns reading into playing. While loved by all kids who have seen the prototye, the book is especially designed to engage reluctant readers 7-10. I want my readers to have fun with the book and not get tripped up by language, so I've worked with literacy professionals (a speech pathologist and remedial literacy tutor) to make sure the language is not a barrier. My first book is in production and will be available in Australia and the US by May 2008. I am driven to help families identify reading difficulties early in their kids. I've seen first hand the impact that reading challenges can have on self esteem behavior. Many parents don't know how to determine if their kids are have reading difficulties and don't know what to do if they find there are difficulties. My mission is to educate parents about this issue. A percentage of the profits of my book will go to literacy causes. I want all kids to treasure reading!
