    Inspiration

When I was a child about eight or nine years old, I was overwhelmed with feelings of hopelessness and despair. Very few people around me were happy and I wasn't happy either. As I moved through my teenage years, I remember thinking that I should write a book about my life’s struggles and how I persevered. In my young mind, if you were going to continue living, then life should be worth living. Based on my observation at the time, most adults weren't happy and I was not interested in becoming part of what I perceived to be the "Living dead." If I continued to live, I wanted to give people hope. I wanted to give them a reason for living. In the mid 90s, I started to write a book about my struggles and my inspiration for living. Unfortunately, the computer crashed, I lost all the material, and the idea went dormant. In 1998, I purchased an emerald ring with diamonds as a symbol of my ability to persevere against the odds. I was also a reminder to me, that I would one day share those things with others. As the years progressed, I found myself writing inspirational articles about life struggles and how to persevere through them. These articles were the basis for the booklet, Coconut Run Dun, Inspirational Writings to Help Renew the Passion and Purpose in us all... By the way, the ring is not worn on a daily basis. Most of the time when I wear it, something is going on in my life. Wearing it, reminds me of who I am and what I’m able to accomplish. I call it the perseverance ring.
