Biography
I was born and raised in rural Central Utah, out in the middle of nowhere. Graduated from business college, - worked as a paralegal secretary for several years; am an experienced business writer. Also, a "Jack-of-all-trades and master of none." I took speech class in college where we were required to write our speeches from scratch. Soon my overactive imagination was stimulated, and I learned I enjoyed writing humor (Erma Bobeck type) and other genres; especially writing humorous Christmas newsletters. Homer Heli. arrived shortly after I broke my ankle in 1993. I was laid up for 9 months, couldn't get upstairs to my computer. (I was taking flying lessons at the time in hubby's airplane, but that came to a screeching halt.)On my kitchen table sat my old Selectric typewriter. For about a year, I'd had idea to write this story, but "put it on the back burner." So, finally, in 1993, Homer, the little , quick-silver-streak 'copter was "born" and really hasn't left: through his stubborness, his reckless phase, his mischievousness, sadness and his heroic triumphs. My raising Homer Helicopter has been a labor of love!
Inspiration
One inspiration was an incident that happened to hubby when he was flying a small aircraft . An eagle flew up beside him. (Charlie) slowed to near cruising speed. The eagle rocked his wings and Charlie did a wave-wag with his wings. They did it again. Then the eagle did a split S-turn, like he was saying "try to match me." Major influences and inspirations: my mother, an eternal optimist and school teacher; father who taught never give up; and ever supportive, patient, & encouraging spouse.
