At the Israel Museum where translations are underway on ancient documents, a few words are discovered on a scroll fragment. The words refer to a long-lost stolen manuscript that, if found, would correct misconceptions about the life of Jesus. Are these words evidence that the mysterious scroll really exists? How to find it? What will it say? And what will it mean to the world today? The search for the stolen Secret Temple Scroll becomes a clandestine operation organized by Israel’s Mossad and eventually involves scholars, religions and governments. As word of the scroll is leaked, the world clamors for its contents. Then a surprising second scroll turns up… During the twisting story of the scrolls, a parish priest must face his deceit; a Roman Catholic cardinal must confront his doubts; an Israeli agent must fight his prejudices, and world religions must come to terms with intolerance. But it is the scrolls’ author, the anonymous scribe, who has the final word in a mesmerizing depiction of his life in Galilee.
