Biography
Joanna Poppink, MFT, relies on her experience of suffering from bulimia for 30 years and finding lasting recovery in her work as a licensed psychotherapist. She has 25 years in treating adults seeking eating disorder recovery and wishing to live more fulfilled lives. Joanna studied journalism at Northwestern University and psychology at UCLA and the Saybrook Institute. She received her M.A. from Antioch University. She is licensed in California and Oregon as an M.F.T. Joanna lives in Los Angeles where, in addition to her practice, she finds time for improvisational theater games, gardening and playin on the beach with her family. She gives presentations to organizations and community groups on various aspects of eating disorder recovery including mindfulness, journal writing and many creative self help practices. she corresponds with women throughout the world via her website in her ongoing efforts to support eating disorder recovery.
Inspiration
Joanna finds inspiration in observing and participating in the complexity of life. She enjoys music, forests, beaches, gardens and observing living beings living. She appreciates art and literature. She studies religions, mythology and spiritual practices from around the world. Her greatest inspiration comes from the courage and determination to live a healthy life in people of all ages.
