Biography

Born and raised in Tampa, FL J.L. Harris spent her early years writing in her spare time in journals. It later evolved into writing books of poetry, and later went on to write stories and articles. In high school, J.L. began writing for her high school newspaper and rose through the ranks and became Assistant Editor In Chief, and has been writing ever since. Coming from a diverse family with a strong Christian background, J.L. used her rearing and her venturing out into the world to afford her a fresh, unique perspective on life and it is evident in her writing. J.L. is presently a full-time sworn law enforcement officer by night, and a full time author by day.

Inspiration

My inspiration for writing The Rainbow Shines in the Rain is fairly simple. I believe that this is a story that needs to be told. There are so many people that struggle with coming into their own and being open with themselves as well as their families about their sexuality when they come to realize that they have homosexual attractions. This is a fictional story that chronicals the challenges and triumphs of finding oneself.
