Jeff Mudd is a humor writer. Which is to say that he's a funny guy who can write. That of course isn't funny, but it's hard to funny with you all staring at me like that.
Look and Listen
Biography
I am a humor writer with a wife and three small children. I do not need to look very far to find humor. In fact, I don't even have to leave my house. Having a large family is like living in a sitcom; plus, as the chidlren grow, I find it's like having a small workforce, like a start-up venture. I published a coming-of-age comedy - "Tumbleweed" - in 2000, then took a decade off from writing because my fingers were exhausted. Last month, I published "My Name is Mudd: Facebook Posts and other (A)musings." It is an irreverant casserole of short stories, Facebook Posts and one-liners about my kids, family and marriage, along with sarcastic jabs at pop culture and holidays. If you read it, especially if you buy it (amazon.com), I will consider you to be not only devastatingly attractive and extraordinarily intelligent but also inordinately philanthropic. Also, I am a fitness trainer. This is how I feed my family; at least until I become a famous writer. Then we'll have a chef named Pierre.

The assignment was for my 7th-grade Texas history class. I can't remember the details, but the star was a down-on-his luck cowboy named (I Need a) Loan Ranger, who rode into town on his trusty mule, Tin Foil. I'm sure that hilarity ensued. Not the stuff of Pulitzers, but not bad for a 12-year-old...
