    Biography

My name is Jaye and I'm a Contemporary fantasy writer (Hiiii, Jayyye.). I live in St. Louis with my beast of a dog, Hank McCoy. I'm obsessed with musicals, Marvel comics, and sci/fi and fantasy stories whether they be movies, television shows, or novels. Admittedly, I'm addicted to the Food Channel. A lifetime of absorbing pop culture, of reading when I should have been working, and of having eclectic interests that span contradictory subjects was my writing school. My degree in Psychology from St. Louis University comes in handy every now and again too. Please visit my webpage at www.jayeajones.com. Three of my novels are now available on Amazon.com, Smashwords.com, and all other major e-book retailers!

    Inspiration

My vivid fantasy life has ruined me for reality. I’ll never be as awesome as Mercy Thompson or as kick-ass as MacKayla Lane. I'll never be as brilliant as Alexia Tarabotti or as brave as Katniss Everdeen. In my lifetime, I won’t be anyone’s last hope to prevent an apocalypse. I won’t feel the power of Pack as I sleep surrounded by werewolves in wolf form. Fighting vampires and zombies and legions of Fae royalty with my lover by my side will never happen for me. I've come to terms with the fact that I am not, in fact, Buffy Summers. Writers often say they always wanted to be a writer. So did I, but I also wanted to be a doctor, a lawyer, a chef, a vampire slayer, and leader of supernatural armies, and a big cat...among many other things. My characters don’t have the restrictions I have. Not if I don’t want them to. They can be anything, go anywhere. Luckily, writing means I can do all the things I've always dreamed of. Even fighting demons and defeating evil witches and saving the world (a lot). Writing means I can be everything I’ve ever wanted to be. Patricia Briggs, Karen Marie Moning, Gail Carriger, Suzanne Collins, and above all, Joss Whedon (go ahead, try to stump me on Buffy trivia), are my major storytelling influences.
