Biography

I write and teach writing in Texas. I am the author of two young adult novels: Leah (2009) and The Spring (2008), and I am currently working on a third novel, Juvenilia. My novels deal with those questions that are universal to young people (and all people): “Who am I?” “Why am I here?” “What is my place in the world?” “What does the future hold for me?” The characters of these novels grapple with these questions, and each character finds his or her own answers — just as we all must.

Inspiration

I read a lot of different authors and genres, but I'd say that the authors who have most inspired/influenced the kind of writing that I do would include Thomas Hardy, JD Salinger, Sylvia Plath, Tennessee Williams, Emily Dickinson, and Jean-Paul Sartre.
